Meijnard Scheers

Ik ben beeldend kunstenaar uit Amsterdam.

Fotografie vormt de basis van mijn werk, eventueel gecombineerd met projectie, verf, papier en doeken. Mijn werken zijn opgebouwd uit meerdere lagen; vrij, intuïtief, zonder regels. Ze bewegen tussen abstract en figuratief. Soms herkenbaar, soms laat het zich raden waar je naar kijkt.

Het zijn imaginaire landschappen Zonder Grond, wegen Zonder Bestemming, Vormen van Water of bloemachtige kleurvlakken Zonder Bloei en sferische Zwart-Wit beelden.

Ik laat imperfecties zichtbaar of ga er naar op zoek: beweging, onscherpte, krassen, sporen, rasters en rafelranden geven het beeld ritme en adem. Zodat het werk gaat leven. Ik creëer sferen, suggesties, zonder er direct een betekenis aan te geven.

Inspiratie vind ik in natuur, kunst en muziek. Tijdens wandelingen met mijn hond Zeppelin verzamel ik indrukken, structuren, vormen en kleuren.

I am a visual artist based in Amsterdam.

Photography forms the foundation of my work, sometimes combined with projection, paint, paper or cloth. My works are built up in multiple layers—free and intuitive, without rules. They move between abstraction and imagination. Sometimes recognisable, sometimes its up to the beholder to conclude what it is they’re looking at.

They are imaginary landscapes Without Ground, roads Without Destination, Shapes of Water, or flower-like fields of colour Without Bloom, alongside spherical Black-and-White images.

I allow imperfections to remain visible: movement, blur, scratches, traces, grids, and frayed edges give the image rhythm and breath, allowing it to come alive.

I create atmospheres, suggestions, without immediately assigning meaning to them.

I find inspiration in nature, art, and music. During walks with my dog Zeppelin, I collect impressions, structures, shapes, and colours.
